Job : Mechanical Engineer II
Location: Olive Township, MI (Onsite – 5 days/week)
Duration: Until May 2028 (with a possibility of extension)

Per Diem: $550/week for non-local candidates
Positions: 2 Openings
Shift: Day shift, Monday–Friday (occasional emergent weekend support possible)
Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer II provides technical support, troubleshooting expertise, and maintenance engineering for a coal-fired generation facility currently operating under 90-day executive orders. This position requires strong hands-on experience in heavy industrial, petrochemical, or power plant environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues on major plant equipment.
- Work with conveyor systems, ash conveying systems, and associated mechanical components.
- Support operation and maintenance of large industrial pumps, including water-moving systems.
- Perform research and provide recommendations on replacement parts including valves, couplings, bearings, and fittings.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and reliability teams to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.
- Assist with welding-related tasks, boiler mechanical assessments, and equipment inspections.
- Support emergent plant needs as required (rare weekend involvement).
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 4–8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
- Background in heavy industrial, natural gas, power plant, boilers, or petrochemical environments.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of pumps, fans, conveyors, and boiler systems.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance support capability.
- Experience with industrial welding or boiler mechanical systems preferred.
- Prior experience as a Facilities Engineer (VA experience is highly valued).
- Ability to work independently onsite and support fast-paced operations.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, OR
- Engineering degree from a non-ABET program plus a Professional Engineering (PE) License.
