We at Horton International are looking for a Senior Envelope Engineer for Nordec Oy. Nordec Group Oy is a leading supplier of steel frame structures and facade solutions for construction projects in the Nordic countries, and Nordec also has a strong position in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) markets, including Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Germany. Nordec specializes in the design, manufacture and installation of frame structures for building and bridge projects with decades of experience. Senior Envelope Engineer is member of Nordec’s design team of 45 people that defines and designs the optimal designs & solutions for various building projects such as commercial and industrial buildings, Data and logistic centers etc. Senior Envelope Engineer takes lead in designing façade systems that meet the customers’ and Nordec’s standards for quality, durability, and performance. In this role, you’ll take ownership of envelope engineering from concept through installation. You’ll develop structural façade solutions, create Tekla models, and collaborate closely with Nordec’s design engineers and external partners to turn ideas into buildable, cost-efficient solutions.
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading independent envelope engineering tasks across projects
- Supporting project sales during the offer stage
- Developing design tools, standard solutions, and team capabilities
- Reviewing and guiding envelope design work by external partners
- Steering steel design from an envelope perspective
- Collaborating with sourcing to ensure competitive product choices
- Acting as a product expert for envelope components (e.g. fasteners, flashings)
What we’re looking for:
- Extensive experience in envelope and panel design for large scale building projects
- Strong CAD and 3D modeling skills (Tekla experience is a plus)
- Solid understanding of dimensioning and technical performance (heat, moisture, sound, fire)
- Ability to work independently and take ownership. Ability work with colleagues and external stakeholders
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. level degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Fluency in English and Finnish is mandatory. Fluency in Swedish and other languages are beneficial.
In this role, your work will directly contribute to projects built to last in demanding Nordic conditions—supporting Nordec’s competitiveness and success across our markets. Location for the role is flexible within Finland.
