We’re seeking a Building Engineer to support the maintaining of all HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, water treatment, and life‑safety systems across assigned properties. This role requires strong technical skills, a proactive attitude, and excellent communication with tenants. The position may involve independent shifts, emergency response, overtime, on‑call duties, and travel between properties.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life‑safety systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections
- Troubleshoot building systems and respond to tenant service requests
- Coordinate and oversee vendors and obtain quotes as needed
- Handle general building repairs (doors, ceilings, lighting, drywall, signage, leaks)
- Monitor mechanical equipment, controls, VFDs, pumps, chillers, cooling towers, and generators
- Support tenant build‑outs, punch lists, and access control systems
- Conduct safety, fire‑life‑safety, and emergency equipment inspections
- Document work, follow safety protocols, and respond to emergencies
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- 3–5 years of commercial property experience (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
- Universal CFC certification; additional trade licenses a plus
- Knowledge of energy management and building automation systems
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb, stoop, and work in various physical positions
- Must pass background screening
