Job Overview:
Wesbuilt is seeking a highly motivated and experienced BIM Coordinator. The BIM Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes on assigned construction projects. This role ensures model accuracy, facilitates coordination among MEP disciplines, and supports the project team in leveraging BIM for design, planning, and construction efficiency.
This role will also have responsibilities for Wesbuilt Digital, our technology consulting division that provides BIM/VDC services to external clients. This business unit is experiencing rapid growth and presents significant opportunities for expansion and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Model Management
- Create, update, and maintain federated models using Revit, Navisworks, and/or other BIM platforms.
- Ensure all models adhere to project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and company standards.
- Conduct regular model audits to ensure geometry accuracy, element classification, and file organization.
- Manage model version control and maintain a clean data environment on BIM 360 / ACC.
2. Coordination & Clash Detection
- Lead weekly or bi-weekly coordination meetings with design consultants, subcontractors, and the project team.
- Run clash detection and coordination reports using Navisworks Manage (or Revizto).
- Assign and track clash issues through resolution; document progress and report to the project manager.
- Support field teams by providing coordinated shop drawings and penetration layouts.
3. Collaboration & Communication
- Act as the point of contact between internal design, field, and external project stakeholders for BIM-related issues.
- Facilitate collaboration between MEP trades, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Assist project managers in communicating model updates and coordination status to clients and design teams.
4. Documentation & Deliverables
- Generate 2D drawings, coordination plans, and as-built models from federated BIM data.
- Assist with model-based quantity takeoffs and visual construction planning (4D/5D as needed).
- Maintain model deliverables schedule and ensure timely submissions to clients.
5. Quality Control & Standards
- Implement and enforce BIM standards, naming conventions, and workflows.
- Provide QA/QC review of incoming trade models to ensure compliance.
- Support the development and improvement of company BIM templates, libraries, and standard operating procedures.
6. Field & Reality Capture Integration
- Coordinate with LiDAR scanning and reality capture teams for existing conditions modeling (Scan-to-BIM).
- Validate point clouds and integrate them into Revit environments.
- Assist with site verification using 360° photo capture tools (e.g., OpenSpace, StructionSite).
7. Training & Support
- Support team members with Revit modeling techniques and BIM software troubleshooting.
- Provide onboarding/training for subcontractors or partners using company BIM protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in BIM/VDC management within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD; experience with tools like BIM 360 and Procore is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, MEP coordination, and project lifecycle workflows.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and align diverse teams.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
