Interior Designer (Mid‑Level — Commercial Interiors)
ADC is seeking a skilled Mid‑Level Interior Designer with strong commercial project experience to join our dynamic, fast‑paced design team. This role is ideal for a designer who can balance creativity with technical precision and confidently support projects from concept through construction. We are looking for someone who understands the unique demands of commercial environments — functionality, durability, code compliance, and brand alignment — while still delivering thoughtful, compelling design solutions.
Role Overview
The Mid‑Level Interior Designer will contribute to and lead portions of commercial interior projects including workplace, retail, hospitality, mixed‑use, and other large‑scale environments. This individual will collaborate with architects, senior designers, consultants, and clients to develop cohesive design concepts, produce detailed documentation, and ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop space plans, test fits, and programming documents for commercial environments
- Create design concepts, finish palettes, and FF&E selections aligned with client brand standards and project goals
- Produce detailed construction documents including floor plans, RCPs, interior elevations, finish plans, and specifications
- Prepare presentation decks, renderings, and material boards for client meetings
- Coordinate with manufacturers, reps, and vendors to source commercial‑grade materials, furniture, and finishes
- Support project management tasks including schedules, budgets, and consultant coordination
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and material samples for accuracy and adherence to design intent
- Conduct site visits to verify field conditions, oversee installations, and support construction administration
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams, consultants, and clients throughout all project phases
- Ensure compliance with building codes, ADA requirements, and industry standards specific to commercial interiors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field
- 3–6 years of experience in commercial interior design (workplace, retail, or commercial)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; experience with SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
- Strong understanding of commercial building codes, life‑safety requirements, and accessibility standards
- Demonstrated ability to develop design concepts and carry them through detailed documentation
- Excellent communication, organization, and time‑management skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively
- NCIDQ certification or progress toward certification is a plus
- Experience with furniture systems (e.g., Herman Miller, Steelcase, Teknion) is highly valued
