You will be joining a Canadian consulting firm with a long track record in Building Envelope and Structural Engineering. They've grown to 70+ staff across their 2 offices, and they're not slowing down. Vancouver is the next chapter, and they're looking for the right person to plant the flag and build something meaningful on the West Coast. This is a firm with the work already in BC, the back-end support to make you successful, and a leadership team that genuinely wants you to win.
Your New Role
This is a Regional Lead role with a big mandate. You'll be opening and leading the Vancouver office, building it from the ground up. Your time will be split roughly 50/50 between business development and project delivery, so you're not just driving the business, you're delivering it too with support from an established team in other locations. In the first 18 to 24 months, the goal is to generate $1 to $1.5 million in services with a team of 4 to 6 staff around you. The good news is you're not starting from scratch. There's already work happening in Vancouver, plus a full team to lean on for BD support, staffing, and project delivery. You'll be managing projects from start to finish, nurturing the existing client relationships, hiring and mentoring your team, attending industry events, and helping shape the firm's broader expansion strategy with the Leadership team. What You'll Need to Succeed
You'll have 15+ years of experience in building science, ideally with a P.Eng. designation (multiple provinces is a strong asset). Technical skills aside, you need to be entrepreneurial. This role is for someone who has either held a senior or executive position in BC prior, or has the network, drive, and confidence to build one. You should be comfortable with BD, client-facing work, and leading a team, and you should genuinely enjoy the building part of building a business.
What You'll Get in Return
Compensation sits between $130,000 and $190,000 base, with a 30% bonus structure (they've paid out as high as 50% in the past, so strong performance is genuinely rewarded). You'll get 4 weeks of vacation, personal days, and RSP matching between 3 and 5%. After 18 months, there's a real conversation to be had about equity. This is a long-term play for the right person, and they want you on the cap table if you're building something that lasts. You'll also have a seat at the senior leadership table as the firm continues its coast-to-coast growth.
