ACWA Uzbekistan Projects:
ACWA Power is actively expanding its presence in Uzbekistan through various renewable energy projects. The company has launched commercial operations at its 501MWh BESS linked to the Riverside Solar project, which includes a 200MW photovoltaic plant. This project is part of a larger initiative to integrate renewable energy capacity with grid-scale storage, marking a significant milestone in Uzbekistan's energy infrastructure development.
Kungrad 123 Wind IPP Project:
The Kungrad 1,500MW Wind + 300MW BESS project, including a ~1,450km OHTL (to be handed over to the offtaker after construction) is a greenfield independent power project being developed by ACWA Power in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Republic of Uzbekistan. ACWA Power and JSC National Electrical Grid of Uzbekistan (NEGU) signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the sole offtake of the plant’s electrical output. The project will be located in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and developed under a ‘Build, Own, Operate & Transfer’ framework. ACWA Power will take the lead in the construction, engineering, operation and maintenance of the plant.
JOB PURPOSE:
Civil Engineer: Substations & Switching Stations (Wind Farm Project) The Civil Engineer will be responsible for supporting and overseeing civil works related to substations and switching stations within a wind farm project. The role involves close coordination with the EPC contractor to ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved designs, methodologies, quality standards, and project requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Monitor and follow up on site progress of civil works at substations and switching stations, reporting deviations and constraints as required.
- Support the EPC contractor by reviewing and providing technical input on construction methods and sequencing.
- Support and participate in site quality inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and approved drawings.
- Review EPC civil design documents with a focus on constructability, practicality, and alignment with site conditions.
- Review and assess civil method statements for technical adequacy, applicability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with EPC, consultants, and site teams to resolve civil, quality, and constructability-related issues.
- Carry out duties in accordance with instructions and priorities assigned by the Line Manager, ensuring professional conduct, timely execution, and proper reporting.
- Comply with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, actively promoting safe working practices and immediately reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- 5 years’ experience in HSSE in the Utilities / Energy sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in civil works execution and site supervision in large scale industrial projects.
- Prior hands-on experience in substation construction is mandatory.
- Valid driving license is required.
- Ability to work effectively in a site-based, multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural project environment
