CONCEPT ARCHITECT / CONCEPT DESIGNERI. JOB OBJECTIVE
Research and develop design concepts and establish creative design directions for architectural and interior design projects, ensuring that design solutions are innovative, aligned with client requirements, technically feasible, and consistent with the company's development strategy.
II. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES1. Design Concept Development
- Receive design briefs and requirements from the Concept Manager, Design Director, or Project Lead.
- Research existing conditions, project context, design trends, and client requirements.
- Develop design concepts, design stories, and overall design style directions for projects.
- Propose appropriate planning, functional, and architectural massing solutions in line with project objectives.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to the company's projects.
2. Concept Design Documentation
Develop concept design documents in accordance with the company's standards, including:
- Moodboard
- Concept Board
- Functional Layout
- Massing
- Preliminary Floor Plans
- Conceptual Perspectives
- Concept Presentation
- Coordinate with the 3D team to ensure that visualizations accurately reflect the design concept.
- Review and ensure consistency between the design concept and presentation materials.
3. Design Presentation and Defense
- Prepare project presentation materials.
- Present design concepts to clients, partners, and company management.
- Explain design solutions and incorporate feedback as approved.
- Support the Project Lead during design presentations and project defense sessions.
4. Cross-Department Coordination
Coordinate with the following departments:
- Technical Design
- BIM
- Structural Engineering
- MEP
- Interior Design
- Quantity Surveying / Cost Estimation
- Ensure that design concepts are practically feasible and aligned with the project's budget.
- Provide clarification and support on design-related matters throughout the technical development process.
5. Research and Development
- Stay updated on trends in architecture, materials, and emerging design technologies.
- Contribute to the development of the company's concept design library, design standards, and professional resources.
- Propose improvements to the company's concept design processes and workflows.
III. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES1. Professional Knowledge
Strong knowledge of:
- Architectural design
- Interior design
- Spatial planning
- Finishing materials
- Applied arts and aesthetics
Understanding of functional planning principles, basic structural concepts, and practical design implementation.
2. Skills
- Strong conceptual thinking and creativity.
- Ability to develop design concepts from client briefs.
- Strong presentation, communication, and design defense skills.
- Good time management and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
3. Software Proficiency
Proficient in:
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- Revit (an advantage)
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe InDesign
- Lumion / Enscape
- AI-assisted design tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, etc.
4. Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in architectural or interior design.
- Experience in concept development for projects such as:
- High-end residential projects
- Villas
- Offices
- F&B
- Hospitality
- Commercial projects
- A portfolio demonstrating strong concept development, design thinking, and design storytelling skills is required.
