ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Senior Engineer, Facilities Engineer role supports the development and operation of our new industrial facilities in Koekelscheuer, including a test laboratory / SMT line (already operational) and a future large-scale manufacturing facility (“Mother Fab”) currently in design phase.This role is responsible for combining hands-on operational support, infrastructure development, and technical leadership in facility design and construction.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
Operational Facilities Support (Test Lab)
- Ensure availability and performance of critical infrastructure:
- Electrical distribution (MV/LV), UPS, backup systems
- HVAC and process cooling systems
- Cleanliness and environmental control
- Support manufacturing teams on infrastructure-related needs and issues
- Monitor and optimize facility performance (energy, alarms, reliability)
- Coordinate and manage external service providers (soft facilities & maintenance)
Facilities Development & Project Support (Production Hall)
- Act as Owner’s Technical Representative during design and construction phases
- Review and challenge design proposals from engineering firms and contractors
- Translate operational and manufacturing requirements into technical specifications
- Ensure infrastructure design meets performance, reliability, and scalability needs
- Support project phases from concept design through commissioning
Coordination & Interface Management
- Act as key interface between:
- Manufacturing teams
- Engineering/design offices
- Contractors and suppliers
- Ensure alignment between operational needs and facility design decisions
- Drive issue resolution across multiple stakeholders
COMPETENCIES
Technical skills
- Strong understanding and working experience of:
- Electrical systems (MV/LV, backup power)
- UPS/STS/ATS engineering and operations
- HVAC and cooling systems
- Cleanroom or controlled environments
- Industrial utilities (air, water, etc.)
- Ability to review and challenge technical designs
- Familiarity with BMS / monitoring systems is a plus

- Strong ownership and accountability
- Ability to operate in both hands-on and strategic environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Structured, problem-solving mindset
- Assertive and able to challenge external partners when needed
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering degree
- 8–15 years of experience in facilities engineering / industrial infrastructure
- Experience in industrial or high-tech environments (electronics, semiconductors, pharma, etc.)
- Proven involvement in design and/or construction projects (owner-side or contractor-side)
- Experience managing contractors and external suppliers
