As Civil & Building Engineer, you will have a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity, building fabric reliability and legal operator compliance of BTEC. You will own building operator responsibility for structural stability, safety-relevant building installations, outdoor infrastructure and architecture.
Together with the Facility Management team of BTEC, you will monitor construction and brownfield works. Coordinate recurring inspections, external specialists and improve the reliability of the building and its structural equipment to minimize risk and unplanned downtime.
What You'll Do
Own CSA (civil, structure and architecture) scope including building operator responsibility for building structural stability, roof (incl. snow-load monitoring), fall protection, stairs / ladders / railings, and outdoor infrastructurePlan, coordinate and document preventive building and structural inspections (e.g. VDI 6200, BauO Bln / BetrVO Bln, ArbStättV, DGUV) and prepare condition / annual reportsCoordinate competent inspections for cranes (structural aspects), power-operated doors and gates; ensure load points, traverse systems and structural interfaces are assessed and documentedMonitor construction, commissioning and handover from fit-out and infrastructure: progress tracking, quality checks, defect follow-up, as-built takeover into CAFM / FM documentationReview structural inquiries in ongoing operation and initiate design changes where requiredManage external specialists and contractors and track vendor performanceCoordinate Berlin BetrVO inspections for safety-relevant technical installations in alignment with Mechanical and Electrical system ownersProvide hands-on support with technicians on building-related maintenance, repairs and improvementsEffectively use existing IT and CMMS systems for work orders, documentation and reportingWork with cross-functional teams and external vendors to solve issuesFollow all occupational safety regulationsCreate, update and publish all important reports and key figures
What You'll Bring
Completed degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, building engineering, or a comparable technical field (Bauingenieur, Tragwerksplaner, or equivalent) — alternatively: solid vocational / technical background with several years of relevant building experienceAt least 3 years of experience in facility operations, industrial buildings, building management or structural / civil work in a technical environmentStrong stakeholder management, communication and organizational skillsSpeak and read in German and EnglishExtensive experience with building fabric, structural inspections, building envelope / roof, outdoor infrastructure, and/or structural aspects of cranes, doors and gatesSolid technical understanding and the ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings, as-built documentation and load plansSolid knowledge of German / EU building and safety standards (e.g. BauO Bln, BetrVO Bln, VDI 6200, ArbStättV, DGUV, BetrSichV) or the willingness to build this depth quicklyAn ownership mindset, teamwork / collaborative approach and assertivenessStrong working knowledge of safety standardsGood profficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
