Role Overview
The Civil Engineer will be primarily based at the Maxus Aspen project site in Mondulkiri
As Maxus Aspen expands its destination development portfolio, the role may also support future projects in other locations across Cambodia, including destinations such as Kampot & Kep, Siem Reap, Koh Rong, and other upcoming project sites.
This position requires close coordination with internal cross-functional teams, architects, consultants, contractors, and suppliers. Regular travel to the Phnom Penh Head Office for reporting and strategic planning, as well as temporary assignments to other development sites, will be required based on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
● Supervise and monitor daily construction activities at the project site.
● Review construction drawings, specifications, BOQ, and technical documents.
● Ensure all works are carried out according to approved drawings, technical standards, and project requirements.
● Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
● Conduct regular site inspections and quality-control checks.
● Monitor project progress against approved construction schedules.
● Identify site issues, delays, technical conflicts, and construction risks, and report them to the Project Manager.
● Provide practical technical solutions and follow up on corrective actions.
● Monitor construction materials, workmanship, and completed quantities.
● Assist with quantity take-off, cost control, budgeting, variation works, and contractor claims.
● Support value engineering and construction optimization where appropriate.
● Ensure compliance with site safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
● Participate in site meetings, coordination meetings, and project progress reviews.
● Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports.
● Maintain proper documentation, including drawings, RFIs, site instructions, inspection records, approvals, and progress reports.
● Assist with testing, inspection, snagging, handover, and defect rectification.
● Coordinate project information between the Mondulkiri site team and the Phnom Penh Head Office.
● Perform other project-related duties assigned by the Project Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
● Minimum 2–3 years of relevant working experience in construction, property development, hospitality, infrastructure, or related projects.
● Good understanding of civil works, structural works, construction methods, materials, and site procedures.
● Able to read and understand architectural, structural, and construction drawings.
● Familiar with AutoCAD; knowledge of Civil 3D, Revit, SketchUp, MS Project, or related software is an advantage.
● Basic knowledge of BOQ, quantity take-off, cost estimation, and construction scheduling.
● Good understanding of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
● Strong problem-solving, coordination, and site management skills.
● Good communication and teamwork skills.
● Proficiency in Khmer and English (written and spoken); knowledge of Chinese is an advantage.
● Responsible, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently.
● Comfortable working in a site-based environment.
Location & Travel Requirements
● Primary assignment will initially be in Mondulkiri Province.
● Must be willing to travel regularly between project sites and the Phnom Penh Head Office.
● Must be flexible to support future Maxus Aspen developments in other provinces and destinations across Cambodia.
● May be temporarily assigned to other project sites depending on construction schedules and operational requirements.
● Comfortable working in both site-based and office-based environments.
● Comfortable working in emerging or remote destination locations.
