Job Title: Building Engineer
Location: Downtown Dallas, Texas
Work Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (First Shift)
Salary: $28–$35 per hour
Type: Direct Hire, Permanent
Responsibilities for the Building Engineer:
- Manage and assist with the daily operation of central utility systems, including chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and chilled water distribution
- Use the building automation system (BAS) to track performance and make necessary adjustments for efficiency
- Conduct routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on core building equipment
- Detect potential equipment problems through visual checks, unusual noises, or performance changes, and report them appropriately
- Collaborate with the engineering team during weekdays and handle operations independently when needed on weekends
- Address tenant service requests in a timely, courteous, and professional manner
Requirements for the Building Engineer:
- Background working in high-end commercial properties or similarly complex, large-scale facilities
- Hands-on experience with central plant environments, including high-capacity chiller systems and operational sequencing
- Familiarity with buildings exceeding 1 million square feet, with campus-style settings being a plus
- Proficiency in using Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor and control equipment
- Solid track record in performing preventative maintenance and diagnosing mechanical issues
- Direct experience with chilled water systems is essential
- Ability to take ownership of operations and perform effectively without direct supervision when required
- Clear communicator with a service-oriented approach to supporting tenants and team members
- Familiarity with energy storage systems used for temperature regulation
- Ability to work from Tuesday through Saturday on a first shift
