About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) is looking for great people to join our Team! We are looking for a Jr. Construction Field Inspector who will have the opportunity to work on an innovative project. We are a leading engineering firm known for quality and responsiveness and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil Engineering firm. The Construction Inspector works closely with the Resident Engineer to ensure conformance with standards, safety, and contract requirements. This role oversees the contractor’s daily activities and the work of ‘junior’ inspectors. What You'll Do
- Works under the general guidance and direction of a Senior Construction Inspector or a Resident Engineer.
- Reviews field staking and makes revisions within the scope of authority.
- Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installation using the surveyor's level.
- Coordinates activities and schedules with utility companies, contractors, property owners, and other agencies.
- Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures and materials conform to plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Records quantities of material received.
- Examines quality of finished installations for conformity to industry standards.
- Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of installation.
- Maintains daily reports of construction activities and performs filing duties.
- Takes progress photos of the construction activities.
- Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into as-built drawings.
- Performs work following safety policies and procedures.
- Handles complaints either personally or by referring to the Resident Engineer.
- Responsibilities may include an entire project or may focus on one specific project area.
To Be Successful
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Knowledge of industry Standards and Specifications for different agencies.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements: personal and workers' safety.
- Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the general public.
- Considerable skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Skill in applying material testing procedures.
- Ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection field and office data.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information, orally and in writing, professionally to contractors, developers, property owners, employees, consultants, governmental agency representatives, and the general public.
- Ability to operate a personal computer, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three years.
