About the job
Facade Engineer - St. Louis, MO $80,000 – $125,000 · Full-time · In person
About Universe
We turn architect visions into reality. Universe is a national leader in facade construction technology, based in St. Louis. Our engineering team takes complex facade designs from CAD drawings to precision-manufactured systems that fit real construction sites perfectly. If you've spent a few years in the industry and want to go deeper, this is where you do it.
What you'll actually do
You'll own a portfolio of facade projects end to end, from interpreting architect design intent through structural and thermal analysis, all the way to fabrication-ready drawings. You'll work directly with fabricators on the shop floor and coordinate with project administrators to keep everything on track. No two projects are the same: complex geometries, tight tolerances, and real problem-solving every day.
- Engineer rainscreen facade systems to meet design intent, building codes, and as-built site conditions
- Produce detailed construction drawings and design documents using state-of-the-art CAD software
- Perform structural and thermal calculations; research and evaluate design alternatives
- Manage several projects concurrently, acting as the technical lead from kickoff to installation
Why engineers with experience choose Universe
You've done enough entry-level work. Here, you'll have real ownership from day one. Your name is on the project, your decisions matter, and you'll see your work go up on buildings across the country. We're a close-knit technical team that moves fast and builds things that last.
- Technical depth: work with cutting-edge facade systems and CAD technology used by top-tier firms
- Real ownership: you manage your projects, make decisions, and see them through to completion
- Growth that's yours: a clear career path with room to expand into new specializations or take on a leadership role
- A team worth working with: collaborative, honest, and driven by craft
- A workplace designed for focus: natural light, 360° views, ergonomic equipment, and tools that don't slow you down
What we're looking for
- Strong spatial visualization skills and comfort with 2D CAD tools for complex geometries
- Ability to read and work from architectural and structural drawings
- A methodical, detail-oriented approach: you catch what others miss
- Clear, direct communication with architects, fabricators, and project teams
- Genuinely passionate about construction and architecture
