Title: Building Envelope Consultant
Locations: Illinois
Salary: $120,000 - $190,000
Job Summary:
We’re looking for an experienced Building Envelope Consultant to support and lead projects for new and existing buildings across the U.S. You’ll work on a mix of investigation, design review, and construction-phase services, with increasing responsibility for project leadership and client interaction. This is a great opportunity for someone ready to take the next step or for a seasoned professional looking to lead complex projects.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and manage building envelope projects from investigation to construction administration.
- Perform condition assessments and forensic investigations using non-destructive and destructive testing.
- Conduct design reviews for constructibility, durability, and waterproofing of foundation systems, walls, façades, and roofing assemblies.
- Oversee enclosure testing activities and perform testing when needed.
- Serve as the primary client contact, writing proposals, and managing project scopes and service fees.
- Coordinate with contractors, specialists, and clients, attending meetings and conferences as necessary.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, or Construction Management.
- 3-10 years of building envelope construction and consulting experience
- Architecture or Civil/Structural Engineering background preferred
- Knowledge of ASTM, AAMA, and industry standards
- Experience with forensic investigations and enclosure testing
- Client-facing experience, including proposals and project management
- Professional certifications or credentials related to roofing or building enclosure systems
- Professional licensure (PE/ RA/ AIA)
