Role Description The Design Manager Facade is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This role is responsible for leading facade design activities from concept to detailed design, ensuring that all solutions meet project, performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating and reviewing facade drawings and calculations, guiding design engineers and drafts teams, and working closely with project managers, production, and installation teams to ensure design intent is realized on site. The Design Manager Facade will liaise with architects, consultants, and contractors to clarify technical details, resolve design issues, and provide value-engineered solutions. The role also involves managing design schedules and deliverables, implementing design standards and best practices, and supporting continuous improvement in design processes and tools.
Qualifications
- Strong facade engineering and architectural design skills, including aluminum and glass systems, curtain walls, cladding, and related building envelope solutions.
- Proficiency in relevant design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, specialized facade and structural analysis tools) and ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience managing design teams, coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders, and overseeing design deliverables for medium to large-scale construction projects.
- Solid understanding of structural performance, thermal and acoustic requirements, safety standards, and regional building codes applicable to facade works.
- Strong project planning, time management, and organizational skills to handle multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with architects, consultants, contractors, and internal teams, and to present and defend design solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field; advanced facade engineering certifications or training are an advantage.
- Previous experience in facade design management in the Middle East or similar markets, with familiarity with fast-track programs and budget constraints.
