Job description:
Job Purpose
Designing and coordination of building facades throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with architects, contractors, and consultants to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, functional, and aesthetically pleasing facades for construction projects. Oversee the design process, support procurement and installation, and ensure compliance with safety standards, budget constraints, and project timelines.
Key Accountability Areas
Facade Design and Engineering:
- Review and contribute to the development of facade design concepts and ensure that they are technically feasible, compliant with relevant codes, and meet project requirements.
- Provide input on material selection, structural integrity, thermal performance, acoustics, and environmental sustainability of facade systems.
- Work with architectural teams to coordinate facade design with the overall building aesthetics and functionality.
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis for facade systems, including structural assessments, load analysis, and performance simulations.
Project Coordination:
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, contractors, and consultants to integrate facade design and engineering into the overall project schedule.
- Oversee procurement and logistics for facade materials, systems, and components.
- Assist in resolving technical issues and ensuring effective communication between design, construction, and installation teams.
- Support the development of facade system mock-ups and prototypes to evaluate performance and quality.
Cost Management:
- Assist with cost estimation for facade materials, labor, and associated systems.
- Monitor facade project budgets and track progress to ensure cost control.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising design integrity or performance.
Sustainability and Innovation:
- Advocate for sustainable design solutions such as energy-efficient facades, use of environmentally friendly materials, and integration of renewable technologies.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative facade systems that can enhance the design and performance of the building envelope.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, and documentation for facade systems.
- Maintain project records and ensure all updates are tracked and reported to stakeholders.
- Assist with the preparation of progress reports and attend project meetings to provide updates on facade engineering tasks.

- Ensure compliance of relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within defined area of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products/services.
