Job Title: BIM Engineer – Civil & Infrastructure
Location: Saudi Arabia
Role Purpose
The Civil / Infrastructure BIM Engineer will support the development, coordination, review, and management of civil and infrastructure BIM models and related digital deliverables across design development, IFC readiness, shop drawing production, construction coordination, site logistics coordination, as-built development, AIM preparation, and digital handover.
The Civil / Infrastructure BIM Engineer will work under the guidance and reporting of the BIM Manager and closely with the Technical Engineering Team to ensure that civil and infrastructure BIM information is accurate, coordinated, technically aligned, constructible, properly documented, and compliant with the project BIM Execution Plan, Model Development Standard, Level of Information Need, BIM QA/QC procedures, Common Data Environment workflows, and ABCC Technical Engineering requirements.
The role requires an engineering-based BIM professional, not a drafting-only profile. The candidate shall be capable of supporting civil / infrastructure BIM production, model information quality, technical coordination, clash resolution, constructability review, shop drawing coordination, survey and coordinate review, site support, QTO / 4D / 5D readiness, infrastructure asset information, and project digital delivery workflows.

Key Activities
Civil / Infrastructure BIM Production & Model Information Quality
- Develop, update, and maintain civil / infrastructure BIM models in accordance with approved project BIM requirements, model standards, naming conventions, shared coordinates, survey control, and CDE workflows.
- Model and manage civil / infrastructure elements including roads, pavements, kerbs, grading, earthworks, external levels, utility corridors, stormwater drainage, sewerage, water supply, irrigation, telecom / ICT ducts, electrical duct banks, manholes, chambers, retaining structures, external slabs, hardscape interfaces, and related site infrastructure components.
- Prepare civil / infrastructure model views, plans, profiles, sections, utility layouts, external levels, road layouts, corridor views, schedules, and model-based drawing outputs using Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and related tools.
- Ensure models are aligned with approved drawings, specifications, and survey data.
- Ensure model information is accurate, coordinated, structured, and suitable for design coordination, shop drawing production, construction support, quantity take-off, 4D/5D readiness, as-built updates, AIM, and handover.
- Maintain consistency between BIM models, civil drawings, infrastructure drawings, specifications, RFIs, TQs, site instructions, survey data, approved materials, and design changes.
- Review civil / infrastructure model content before sharing to identify modelling gaps, duplicated elements, incorrect coordinates, incorrect levels, incorrect surfaces, missing parameters, utility conflicts, model warnings, and information quality issues.
BIM Coordination, Clash Detection & Model Review
- Support multidisciplinary BIM coordination between Civil / Infrastructure, Architecture, Structure, MEP, Landscape, Roads, Utilities, External Works, specialist systems, and Trade Contractor models.
- Review federated models and identify civil / infrastructure coordination issues, level conflicts, utility clashes, manhole and chamber conflicts, road interface issues, drainage falls, external works constraints, access conflicts, maintainability concerns, and constructability risks.
- Support clash detection, issue review, and clash resolution using Navisworks, ACC Model Coordination / BIM Collaborate, BCF, Revizto, or other approved coordination platforms.
- Attend and actively participate in BIM coordination, technical coordination, design coordination, infrastructure coordination, and construction coordination meetings.
- Present assigned BIM issues clearly, explain civil / infrastructure coordination constraints, propose practical resolution options, update action trackers, and follow up assigned actions until closure. Coordinate with the Technical Engineering Team to ensure proposed BIM solutions are technically acceptable and aligned with design intent, specifications, authority requirements, constructability, survey control, site logistics, and site conditions.
- Escalate unresolved or high-impact coordination issues to the Senior BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager, and relevant technical discipline leads where required.
Shop Drawing, Construction Documentation, As-Built & Handover Support
- Support civil / infrastructure shop drawing production from coordinated BIM models and approved IFC design information.
- Support preparation of BIM inputs for RFIs and Technical Queries (TQs).
- Prepare and support civil / infrastructure plans, sections, profiles, external levels drawings, utility coordination drawings, road layouts, drainage layouts, manhole schedules, chamber details, setting-out drawings, coordination drawings, builders’ work information, and interface drawings.
- Ensure civil / infrastructure shop drawings and model-based outputs are coordinated with Architectural, Structural, MEP, Landscape, Roads, Utilities, Authority, and specialist package requirements.
- Support construction documentation and package readiness by providing coordinated model views, drawing inputs, schedules, quantities, and issue resolution support.
- Support progressive as-built BIM updates by incorporating verified redlines, site mark-ups, approved changes, survey inputs, installation records, inspection records, and final construction information.
- Support AIM, COBie, Asset Register, utility asset data, manhole / chamber data, network data, O&M linkage, and digital handover information where required.
Coordinate with Document Control to ensure BIM deliverables are correctly named, revised, uploaded, transmitted, and tracked through ACC and/or Aconex.
Technical Queries, Site Support & Constructability Review
- Support the Technical Engineering Team in reviewing civil / infrastructure BIM information, resolving RFIs/TQs, responding to coordination comments, and supporting site queries.
- Provide BIM-based technical support through model views, 3D screenshots, annotated views, sections, profiles, dimensions, schedules, and coordination sketches.
- Support constructability reviews by identifying installation conflicts, access constraints, utility congestion, level conflicts, temporary works interfaces, sequencing constraints, coordination gaps, and maintainability concerns.
- Assist site and package teams in understanding model information, coordinated model status, approved drawings, survey references, setting-out information, and relevant construction constraints.
- Highlight discrepancies between design information, model information, shop drawings, survey data, and site conditions to the BIM Manager and Technical Engineering Team.
- Ensure site-related model updates are incorporated only after technical validation and approval through the project workflow.
QTO, 4D/5D & Digital Construction Data Readiness
- Support 4D/5D readiness by providing model data required for quantity extraction, CBS mapping, construction sequencing, progress monitoring, and dashboard reporting.
- Support assignment and verification of model parameters such as zone, area, package, work area, system/type, construction phase, CBS code, WBS reference, utility network reference, and handover area where required.
- Support early construction sequencing data for earthworks, enabling works, temporary access, roads, utilities, infrastructure corridors, external works, and handover zones.
Visualization, Presentation & Stakeholder Communication Support
- Support preparation of high-quality visual outputs where required, including model screenshots, sequencing visuals, site logistics visuals, infrastructure coordination graphics, and presentation images.
- Use visualization tools such as Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Navisworks, Lumion, Enscape, Twinmotion, Photoshop, or equivalent where required and where capability is available.
Standards, Training & Continuous Improvement
- Develop knowledge of BIM standards, civil / infrastructure workflows, and coordination processes.
- Support basic BIM training, onboarding, and knowledge sharing when required.
- Support implementation of BIM best practices and project standards.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote effective use of BIM tools across project teams.
- Support workflow improvement initiatives including Civil 3D templates, Revit schedules, Dynamo scripts, Excel trackers, Power BI inputs, and coordination templates where applicable.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Infrastructure, Transportation, or Construction Engineering (mandatory).
- BIM-related certifications are an advantage, including Autodesk certification in Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM Collaborate, or Autodesk Takeoff.
- Minimum 6 years of civil/infrastructure BIM modelling and coordination experience; 7–9 years preferred on large-scale, infrastructure, or fast-track projects
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650, CDE workflows, LOD/LOIN, and QA/QC processes.
- Ability to read civil, structural, and MEP drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Strong written/verbal English communication and coordination skills.
- Saudi Council of Engineers registration or eligibility preferred.
- Autodesk certifications (Civil 3D, Navisworks, ACC) and/or ISO 19650/RICS BIM training advantageous.
- Degree and certificates must be attestable/verifiable prior to onboarding.
