Job Title: BIM Engineer – Architectural
Location: Saudi Arabia
Role Purpose
The Architectural BIM Engineer will support the development, coordination, review, and management of architectural BIM models and related digital deliverables across design development, IFC readiness, shop drawing production, construction coordination, as-built development, AIM preparation, and digital handover.
The Architectural BIM Engineer will work under the guidance and reporting to the BIM Manager, and closely with the technical teams for ensuring that architectural BIM information is accurate, coordinated, technically aligned, constructible, properly documented, and compliant with the project BIM Execution Plan, Model Development Standard, Level of Information Need, BIM QA/QC procedures, Common Data Environment workflows, and ABCC Technical Engineering requirements.
The role requires an engineering-based BIM professional, not a drafting-only profile. The candidate shall be capable of supporting architectural BIM production, model information quality, technical coordination, clash resolution, constructability review, shop drawing coordination, site support, QTO / 4D / 5D readiness, visualization support, and project digital delivery workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Architectural BIM Production & Model Quality
- Develop, update, and maintain architectural BIM models in accordance with the approved project BIM requirements, model standards, naming conventions, shared coordinates, and CDE workflows.
- Model and manage architectural elements including walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, doors, windows, stairs, ramps, curtain walls, façade interfaces, finishes, rooms, spaces, and related architectural components in alignment with design intent and construction requirements.
- Prepare architectural model views, plans, sections, elevations, schedules, room data, door/window schedules, finishes schedules, and model-based drawing outputs Using Revit Architecture and related tools.
- Ensure model information is accurate, coordinated, structured, and suitable for design coordination, shop drawing production, construction support, quantity take-off, 4D/5D readiness, as-built updates, AIM, and handover.
- Maintain consistency between BIM models, drawings, specifications, RFIs, TQs, site instructions, and approved design changes.
- Review architectural model content before sharing to identify modelling gaps, duplicated elements, incorrect levels, incorrect worksets, missing parameters, model warnings, and information quality issues.
BIM Coordination & Clash Detection
- Support multidisciplinary BIM coordination between Architecture, Structure, MEP, Civil / Infrastructure, Façade, Interiors, Landscape, specialist systems, and Trade Contractor models.
- Review federated models and identify architectural coordination issues, spatial conflicts, access constraints, ceiling coordination issues, façade interfaces, maintainability concerns, fire/life-safety interfaces, and constructability risks.
- Support clash detection, issue review, and clash resolution using Navisworks, ACC Model Coordination / BIM Collaborate, BCF, Revizto, or other approved coordination platforms.
- Attend and actively participate in BIM coordination, technical coordination, design coordination, and construction coordination meetings.
- Present assigned BIM issues clearly, explain architectural coordination constraints, propose practical resolution options, update action trackers, and follow up assigned actions until closure.
- Coordinate with the Technical Engineering Team to ensure proposed BIM solutions are technically acceptable and aligned with design intent, specifications, authority requirements, constructability, and site conditions.
- Escalate unresolved or high-impact coordination issues to the Senior BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager, and relevant technical discipline leads where required.
Shop Drawing, Construction Documentation, As-Built & Handover Support
- Support architectural shop drawing production from coordinated BIM models and approved IFC design information.
- Prepare and support architectural plans, sections, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, room layouts, finish layouts, door/window schedules, wall types, opening details, coordination drawings, and builders’ work information.
- Ensure architectural shop drawings and model-based outputs are coordinated with Structural, MEP, Façade, Interior, Fire/Life Safety, Accessibility, Authority, and specialist package requirements.
- Support construction documentation and package readiness by providing coordinated model views, drawing inputs, schedules, and issue resolution support.
- Support progressive as-built BIM updates by incorporating verified redlines, site mark-ups, approved changes, survey inputs, installation records, and final construction information.
- Support AIM, COBie, Asset Register, room/space data, finish data, door/window data, O&M linkage, and digital handover information where required.
- Coordinate with Document Control to ensure BIM deliverables are correctly named, revised, uploaded, transmitted, and tracked through ACC and/or Aconex.
Technical Queries, Site Support & Constructability Review
- Support the Technical Engineering Team in reviewing architectural BIM information, resolving RFIs/TQs, responding to coordination comments, and supporting site queries.
- Provide BIM-based technical support through model views, 3D screenshots, annotated views, sections, dimensions, schedules, and coordination sketches.
- Support constructability reviews by identifying installation conflicts, access constraints, ceiling congestion, interface risks, sequencing constraints, coordination gaps, and maintainability concerns.
- Assist site and package teams in understanding model information, coordinated model status, approved drawings, and relevant construction constraints.t
- Highlight discrepancies between design information, model information, shop drawings, and site conditions to the BIM Manager and Technical Engineering Team.
- Ensure site-related model updates are incorporated only after technical validation and approval through the project workflow.
QTO, 4D/5D & Digital Construction Data
- Support Autodesk Takeoff / QTO readiness by ensuring architectural model elements are correctly modelled, named, classified, coded, zoned, and parameterized.
- Support 4D/5D readiness by providing model data required for quantity extraction, CBS mapping, construction sequencing, progress monitoring, and dashboard reporting.
- Support assignment and verification of model parameters such as zone, level, package, work area, system/type, construction phase, CBS code, WBS reference, and handover area where required.
Visualization & Standards
- Support rendered views, walkthroughs, and presentation graphics using Rhino, 3ds Max, Lumion, Enscape, Twinmotion, or Photoshop where required
- Support BIM training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives, including Dynamo scripts and Revit schedules

Necessary Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 6+ years of relevant architectural BIM production and coordination experience, preferably including 7–9 years on large-scale building, campus, governmental, mixed-use, design-and-build, or fast-track construction projects. Strong BIM production and model coordination capability.
- Ability to review BIM models from an engineering and constructability perspective, not only from a modelling perspective.
- Strong understanding of architectural design, construction detailing, finishes, room data, doors, windows, ceilings, façade interfaces, and multidisciplinary building coordination.
- Good understanding of ISO 19650 principles, CDE workflows, naming conventions, status codes, suitability codes, and information management.
- Understanding of LOD / LOIN, model health checks, QA/QC workflows, clash detection, and issue management.
- Basic understanding of quantity take-off readiness, CBS coding, 4D sequencing requirements, 5D data preparation, and dashboard reporting.
- Understanding of AIM, COBie, Asset Register, as-built models, O&M linkage, and digital handover requirements.
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, RFIs, TQs, shop drawings, technical comments, and construction documentation.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to actively participate in coordination meetings and explain BIM issues clearly.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow up actions until closure.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-track project environment.
- Ability to support basic training and knowledge transfer when required.

Education and Certification Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Building Engineering, or related engineering discipline from a recognized Faculty of Engineering or equivalent accredited engineering institution is mandatory.
- BIM-related certifications are an advantage (Autodesk certification in Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM Collaborate, or Autodesk Takeoff, BSI / ISO 19650 certification or BIM information management training, RICS BIM-related training or digital construction certification where relevant.
- Saudi Council of Engineers registration or eligibility where applicable.
